Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists "Approved Supervisor"

I am a native of Washington DC, and growing up has been no fairy tale. I am no novice to adversity, trauma and mental health challenges. My less than fortunate experiences has led me to a place of community service. My wealth of knowledge and expertise affords me the opportunity to help those that struggle along their way.

When your mental health is off, everything else is off. Whether personal, family, or business relationships, they are all affected due to unresolved issues.

My therapy approach is about you the client, helping you reach your goal and maximizing your mental wellness. Therapy can only work if your’e willing to do the work. Results don’t come by happenstance, but by sacrifice, work and a willingness to take ownership of your actions.

I’m direct in my therapy approach, because hearing the truth will set you free. What you do with the truth, is totally up to you. My job is to get you to a place of resolution, and mental stability.

You are the expert about you and it is important that you are willing to be truthful and transparent about your situation. We will work together to help empower you to navigate through life, create solutions, and help you get to a healthy State of Mind.

My Values

Confidentiality

The ethical principle of confidentiality requires that information shared by a client with a therapist in the course of treatment is not shared with others. This principle bolsters the therapeutic alliance as it promotes an environment of trust. There are important exceptions to confidentiality, namely where it conflicts with the clinician's duty to warn or duty to protect. This includes instances of suicidal behavior or homicidal plans, child abuse, elder abuse and dependent adult abuse.

Creativity

There is no one size fit all when it comes to treating peopele with mental health issues. Creativity requires the use of different therapy techniques to meet the needs of the client. Sometimes it takes art-based activities, such as music and dance, to help treat emotional and mental health conditions.

Compassion

Compassion is a process of connecting by identifying with another person. Identifying with others through compassion leading to increased motivation to do something in an effort to relieve the suffering of others.

Acceptance

Acceptance is not based on popularity or the status quo. Here at State of Mind everyone is welcome regardless of religion, culture, income status, race or sexual preference.  Our goal is to help you reach your full potential in life.
